How do I save visiting cards on my phone without typing them?

Short answer

Use a card-scanning app: you photograph the card and the app reads the name, phone, email, company and address and saves it as a contact. Typing works for a few cards, but a dedicated scanner is much faster after an exhibition. DCPL's MyBizScan uses AI OCR to create a contact in about a second and can sync to Zoho CRM.

Also asked as: “What is the easiest way to digitise business cards?” · “Which app scans visiting cards into contacts?” · “How do I get visiting card details into my CRM?” · “I have a pile of business cards from an exhibition, how do I save them all?”

Your options

  • Type them in: fine for a handful of cards, slow and error-prone for a stack.
  • Phone camera or scanner apps: many phones can copy text from a photo, and document scanner apps keep an image of the card, but you still sort the text into fields yourself.
  • Dedicated card-scanning apps: read the card and fill in the contact fields automatically, so you only check and save.
  • Scanning connected to a CRM: the contact goes straight into your sales system, ready for follow-up.

How to scan a stack of cards quickly

  1. 1Lay each card flat on a plain, contrasting surface in good light.
  2. 2Hold the phone directly above the card so the text is sharp and not angled.
  3. 3Scan, then check the phone number and email, as these matter most for follow-up.
  4. 4Add a note or tag, such as the event name or what you discussed, while you still remember.
  5. 5Save to your phone contacts or sync to your CRM, and keep the card image for reference.

MyBizScan by DCPL

MyBizScan is DCPL Technology's own business-card scanning app. Its AI OCR turns a visiting card into a structured contact in about a second and can sync the contact to Zoho CRM, which suits teams that collect many cards at trade fairs and meetings. It is one option among several; whichever app you choose, check how it stores your contacts and whether you can export them.

Things to check in any card scanner

  • Accuracy on the cards you actually receive, including designs with logos, dark backgrounds or more than one language.
  • Where the contact data is stored and who can access it.
  • Export options (CSV, phone contacts) and integration with the CRM you use.
  • Whether a team can share scans or each person keeps their own.

When to get help

If you need scanned cards to flow into your own CRM, sales process or follow-up messages rather than just phone contacts, that is an integration project. DCPL Technology built MyBizScan and can build similar AI document reading into your own systems, billed from USD 12 per hour or at a fixed price.
